The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation invites participation in Random Acts of Kindness Day
Making kindness a priority...
The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF) invites your community foundation to join them in hosting Random Act of Kindness Day on the second Friday of November each year.
Random Act of Kindness Day is a day to celebrate the thoughtfulness and generosity of ourselves and others. The day was created with two thoughts in mind; to help reinforce The KWCF's vision of building a better community and to encourage the 'pay it forward' philosophy, providing an opportunity for each citizen to exhibit kindness to one another.

We all live in truly amazing communities where so much kindness happens every day. How great would it be to encourage your citizens to take a moment, not only to recognize when someone does something nice for them, but to pay that thoughtfulness back? They could hold a door open, give a "pat on the back," buy someone a coffee, or lend a helping hand wherever it's needed most. Whatever simple act they choose to do the only catch is that they ask the next person to 'pay it forward.'
Since hosting Random Act of Kindness Day, community awareness of The KWCF has increased. Random Act of Kindness Day can be a branding and awareness tool for your community foundation too!
How can my community foundation participate in Random Act of Kindness Day?
The first Random Act of Kindness Day was hosted by The KWCF on November 14th, 2008. In 2009, three more community foundation joined The KWCF in hosting Random Act of Kindness Day in their communities. Now is your chance to get involved!
Along with small administration fee, you will be asked to sign a contract agreeing to follow trade-marking and branding for Random Act of Kindness Day, remaining true to the original intent of the day.
After signing up, your community foundation will receive templates and tools to help you with hosting your own Random Act of Kindness Day.
We are pleased to share that Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) supports this kindness initiative. CFC community foundation members will have first right of refusal for hosting Random Act of Kindness Day in their individual community(s). Should community foundations turn down the opportunity to host this special day, other 'like-minded,' community-based organizations will have the opportunity to take on leadership for Random Act of Kindness Day.
