Overview of Hamilton Community Foundation's Poverty Reduction Strategy

Hamilton Community Foundation (HCF) has a three-pronged approach to reducing poverty in Hamilton:  Growing Roots…Strengthening Neighbouhoods, Tackling Poverty Together, and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction. Each of these contributes to the same end but operates separately and represents a complementary element of HCF's effort to reduce local poverty.

In December 2007, HCF announced a renewed commitment to poverty with $5 million over 5 years dedicated to Tackling Poverty Together II: Building Strong Communities. This represents phase two of the poverty strategy and is not included in the evaluation descriptions below. You can read more about Hamilton new phase of poverty reduction work, Tackling Poverty Together II, at their website.
