Community Foundations and the Environment
Going Green
Young people play an important role in the environmental movement. Community foundations youth councils are identifying areas where they can connect with each other, and others who are working on environmental issues, to make a difference.
Objectives
- Support key players on environmental issues
- Establish opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, both online and off
- Develop and share strategies to educate and engage youth in their communities
Impact
- Within six months of the creation of Going Green, youth councils provided funding for five environmental youth forums
- Partnerships initiated with the Ontario Trillium Foundation and The Ashoka Foundation
- National networking created speaking opportunities for youth representatives to present at conferences in different parts of Canada
