Community Foundations and the Environment
Kick Start Grants
Through the Kick Start program, generously supported by the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada provides grants and other support to community foundations to strengthen their focus on the environment.
Objectives
- Building local environmental endowments and increasing local granting
- Building the capacity of community foundations to act as environmental leaders
- Engaging the community on environmental issues
Impact
- More than $5 million in environmental endowment funds raised for communities across Canada
- Grants of $2.6 million made to environmental organizations
- Engaged 36 community foundations from coast to coast
